Being a Parent Governor

The Governing Body is a group of volunteers who help the head teacher to raise the standard of education offered in the school. The Governing Body at St Mary’s ensures that the distinctive Catholic identity of the school is sustained in every area of its life, and is responsible for making sure the school provides a good quality education.  Together with the Headteacher, it sets the school’s aims and policies, and monitors the progress made.

The Governing Body has three key roles:

  • To ensure the school ethos and vision are promoted – strategic direction.
  • To ensure the head teacher works hard to improve pupil achievement – accountability.
  • To ensure best value for money from the school budget.

St Mary’s Governing Body welcomes individuals from all back grounds, professions and cultures. Our aim is to build a Governing Body that reflects the makeup of the school and community it serves.

We are currently recruiting a Parent Governor. If you would like to apply for a position, download the application form from the link below.
